LHN and SAL part2 ... LHN e parte 2 del SAL

After a very long pause, I finally picked up again a LHN that I started last year. It is a beautiful heart-shaped design, packed with stitching related smalls, such as spools, scissors and threads. I had forgotten how pretty this design is and how relaxing the choice of colors. I am not sure I wish to actually finish it as a heart but the decision can wait!

Dopo una lunga pausa, ho finalmente ripreso in mano lo schema di LHN iniziato lo scorso anno. E' uno schema a forma di cuore, molto bello e pieno di piccole immagini sul tema del ricamo, come fili, forbici e rocchetti. Avevo dimenticato quanto fosse piacevole questo schema e quando siano rilassanti i suoi colori! Non sono sicura di volerlo poi confezionare a forma di cuore, ma è una decisione che può attendere! 

Also, I have finished the second box of the ABC SAL. The border is on a lighter shade of orange and a small blue flower has bloomed. Hope my stitching friends will like it! Ho anche terminato la seconda parte del SAL ABC. Il bordo è in uno tono di arancione più chiaro ed è sbocciato un piccolo fiore blu. Spero che piaccia alle amiche ricamine! Questa è la lista di chi ha deciso di unirsi a me in questo progettino, spero sia completa: Cucki, Eszter, June, Clare, Emilia, Katy e Giselle. 143=1

Ok, maybe not every time... but if you add up 143 granny squares the final result is actually 1. And precisely one large, warm, comfy blanket. The perfect place to snuggle up under now that the weather seems to have really turned to wintertime! 

This is probably the largest crochet project I have ever attempted and I am so very pleased with the result. It took me slightly less than two months to complete it. The granny 143 squares were OK, I actually enjoyed crocheting them as the pattern is simple and after the first two dozens it gets very automatic. And extremely relaxing. Conversely, assembling them... THAT was a challenge!! Took me a little while but I was so curious to see it that I did rush through this part. My fingers ached in the end, LOL, but it was worth it!

OK, magari non sempre... ma se si sommano 143 quadrotti all'uncinetto il risultato finale è davvero 1. E precisamente una grande, calda, comoda coperta. Il posto perfetto sotto cui raggomitolarsi ora che il tempo sembra finalmente aver deciso di virare verso l'inverno!

Questo è probabilmente il progetto più grande che io abbia mai tentato con l'uncinetto e sono felicissima del risultato. Ho impiegato un po' meno di due mesi per finirlo. I 143 quadrotti sono stati facili: mi sono divertita a lavorarli. Il modello è semplice e dopo un paio di dozzine l'uncinetto va da solo. Ed è molto rilassante. Al contrario, unirli insieme... QUELLA è stato un'impresa! Mi ci è voluto un po'... ma ero così curiosa di vedere la coperta finita che ho letteralmente volato in questa fase. Alla fine le dita erano tutte indolenzite :D ma ne è valsa la pena!!

The blanket finished, I went back to my stitching basket for supplies... and recovered my DMC project from last year. While handling it, I realized the linen was almost the same shade of that of a bag I use to keep some sewing bits and bobs. This motivated me enough to finish it and sew it over the bag. Perfect match!

Finita la coperta, sono andata a curiosare nel mio cesto da lavoro per qualcosa da fare... e ho ripescato lo schema DMC cominciato lo scorso anno. Prendendolo in mano mi sono accorta che il lino era praticamente dello stesso colore di quello di una borsa in cui raccolgo un po' di cose per il cucito. Ottima motivazione per finire il ricamo e cucirlo sulla borsa. Abbinamento perfetto!

A little SAL... Un ricamo a puntate...

The holiday season is over... It's often difficult to get back into the usual routine, at least for me. This year I am not fooling myself: I am not making a list of New Year resolutions. I already know that I won't stick to them, especially if they involve stash and crafts! But I still wish to have something new for my blog, to help me being more constant in updating it. So I thought about a SAL.

I have gone through the small designs I charted for fun in the past few years and came up with the idea for a quick & easy ABC. I do like stitched alphabets, in my mind they belong to the days when the most beautiful samplers were stitched, when time was not an issue... But I digress. 

I have charted an alphabet, composed of 12 tiny squares, 30x30 stitches each. I am presently stitching them on a soft 28ct evenweave, with DMC threads. In the end I wish to create a drawstring bag, hence the soft fabric and the panel form, but I suppose each design could be easily used for a scissor fob, pincushions or whatever one likes. After all, each square is just 5x5cm.

My plan is to complete a square every two weeks. They are quick stitches, which could be easily squeezed in between larger projects. What about joining me? You can see a photo of square number one below. Number two and the rest of them, well... this is going to be a surprise! Of course I will be more than happy to share the charts with friends and followers who wish to join this SAL and keep me motivated! Just drop me an email.

La stagione delle feste è finita... E spesso è difficile tornare alla solita routine, almeno per me. Quest'anno evito di prendermi in giro facendo una lista di buoni propositi per l'anno nuovo: tanto so già che non riuscirò a mantenerli, soprattutto se riguardano acquisti crocettosi e altri hobby! Vorrei comunque qualcosa di nuovo per il mio blog,  qualcosa che mi aiuti ad essere più costante nell'aggiornarlo. Così ho pensato a un SAL. 

Ho guardato i piccoli schemi che ho disegnato per divertimento negli ultimi anni e mi è venuta l'idea per un alfabeto facile e veloce. Gli alfabeti ricamati mi piacciono molto, nella mia testa si associano ad un'epoca in cui si creavano ricami stupendi, quando il tempo non era un problema ... Ma sto divagando. 

Ho disegnato lo schema di un alfabeto, composto da 12 piccoli quadrati, 30x30 crocette ciascuno. Li sto ricamando su una tela etamine 28ct, morbida, con fili DMC. Vorrei confezionare il ricamo finito come un sacchettino per i progetti in corso, di qui la scelta di un tessuto morbido e della forma "a pannello", ma suppongo che ogni riquadro possa essere facilmente utilizzato per un trova forbici, puntaspilli o qualsiasi altra cosa. Dopo tutto, ogni quadretto misura solo 5x5cm. 

Il mio piano è completare un quadretto ogni due settimane. Sono ricamini veloci, che si possono facilmente infilare qua e là tra progetti più grandi. Che ne direste di unirvi a me? Il quadretto numero uno è nella foto qua sopra. Il numero due e i successivi invece sono una sorpresa! Naturalmente, sarò più che felice di condividere regolarmente gli schemi con amiche e followers che vogliono partecipare al SAL e aiutarmi a restare motivata! Basta mandarmi un mail.
